Week 9 | Jedda | “Fells Point”
Shutter: 1/200Aperture: f/14.0ISO: 200
Oops, late again. I do think we should change it to Mondays, but I agree that if we change it to Mondays, I won’t upload until Tuesday… so I guess we should just keep it to Sundays and go from there. As long as we upload the week of, I think we should be all good. Anyways, this past week I went to Fells Point in Baltimore with my roommates and our significant other. We had sushi (FAVE), and just had a good time. That is all.

Man, I’m late again. I would say we should change our posting deadline to Monday, but then I think I wouldn’t post until Tuesday every week… sigh. I took group shots for Keilani’s a’ccapella group this weekend as they were preparing for their spring concert. I’ve always had a problem photographing large groups. I am not the strongest director, so telling a group of 18 what to do and where to stand takes longer than it should. I also often get a picture I love, except that one person is blinking or something. I think I just need more practice, I mean it’s basically choreography for the camera. Til next week -E

Shutter: 1/640Aperture: f/5.0ISO: 160
I know, I know, I’m incredibly late again. School is wrapping up and I’m just trying to avoid being on the computer for long periods of time = me not being able to upload and edit photos. Anyways, this past Easter Weekend, I went to go visit my family in Ocean City. The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we decided to hit up the boardwalk. There were tons of people there and some of the rides were open. I wanted to do “tourist-y” photos and this is one of the photos I came up with. I’m not sure it’s very tourist-y but I love the pastel colors it has.

Technique: Night Club Photography
I’m late again! I honestly just spaced it last night, it being Easter and all… I met a more seasoned photographer at the STRUT fashion show a few weeks ago. He liked my energy so he has taken me under his wing and allowed me to be his assistant and learn as I go. He has already given me so much great information I can hardly retain it. As part of my work for him I have been helping him shoot photography at a night club here in Richmond every week. Night club photography is all about making the sloppy drunk people look like celebrities. How is that possible? With our friend the off-camera flash, all you need is a trigger. Carlos taught me how to the hold the flash like a spotlight on faces and how to angle it correctly. Night club photography is fun if you get in and interact with the folks, but it’s still a long night. Though, I do feel like a badass because despite the fact that I’m underage I get into the club without them checking my ID. I also get a VIP pass and whatever free drinks I want. :P Hollaaaaa.

Shutter: 1/20Aperture: f/5.3ISO: 160
I’m always late :| ah, I apologize for being 3 weeks late uploading. I wanted to emulate film photography by adding film grain on here and changing the contrast, and color of it. I’ve always admired film photography and one of these days, I’m going to build myself a darkroom and go back to it. Until then, it’s all digital for me.

Sorry for posting late again, I’m not on my game. I have been rock climbing a lot lately with Keilani because she works for the OAP at our gym. We’re both getting a lot stronger, but her inparticularly, seeing as she can climb 5.10s and I’m still a 5.9 climber, boo. This was a fun shoot, we did it on a Friday so the wall was pretty empty. I even climbed all the way up the wall once and hung there to take pictures above her. I was a little afraid for my cameras life though, haha. A little difficulties with blur from low light, but overall fun.

Week 6 | Jedda | Couch Potato

My culture show has taken over life so I haven’t gotten a chance to take pictures… or post at that. I apologize for being over 48 hours late posting as well. I’ve been spending a lot of my time with this one over here so most of my pictures have been of her. I’ll come up with something different one of these weeks when the weather starts getting better and I get more motivation to take my camera out.

Sorry for posting over 24 hours late, I just couldn’t get around to it this weekend (mostly because I was in Baltimore all weekend). I even did this shoot earlier in the week, oh well. I’ve been doing a lot of dance photography for the graduating seniors because they need portfolio pictures. I enjoy the shoots. I always insist on shooting midday so I have good light to catch all the movement.

This past weekend, I was able to take some pictures for District 6’s Basketball Tournament. I’ve always been fascinated with sports photography but never really got into it because I still need a lot of practice with motion photography. I was able to take this picture of Stef right before she took her foul shot against College Park. Congrats to UMBC girls’ team for being district champs for 3 years in a row.

Technique: Fashion/Runway Photography
Hola. I was a dancer in the STRUT fashion show at VCU this weekend. I spent a lot of time watching rehearsal and taking photos of the models in action. My best shots were from when the models would stop and pose, because they were nice and crisp. I wish I could have gotten better shots of them actually walking, but they were mostly a little blurry, or a funky in-between moment. It’s hard in low light, should have brought my flash. I like shooting runway models, hopefully I can get some real gigs in the future.
